Sama Sarraj, LMSW
Postgraduate Therapist

Sama Sarraj is a psychodynamic psychotherapist who draws from a range of approaches to meet clients where they are at. At the core of her work is a commitment to listen deeply, with an open mind and heart. She believes that this builds an atmosphere of trust and warmth, where clients feel safe and empowered to go places they haven’t before, and explore deeper layers of meaning and past experiences.

Sama is comfortable working with a range of presentations, including complex trauma, substance use, and emotional dysregulation. She is attentive to the systemic, sociopolitical and economic factors that impact clients’ wellbeing, and believes in the importance of addressing them in therapy. Having lived and worked in different countries, Sama welcomes clients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.

Sama has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Middle Eastern studies from Columbia University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University, with a specialization in trauma and violence. She completed her postgraduate training in psychodynamic therapy at Harvard Medical School’s teaching hospital, Cambridge Health Alliance, and is also intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Sama provides therapy in both English and Arabic.
