How long does it take to establish an appointment along with a provider at Greene Clinic?
If we have openings at your fee range, it typically takes less than a week to establish an appointment, depending on how quickly you complete our intake paperwork. Our intake process involves filling out paperwork and then having a brief phone consultation with one of our directors, who then makes a referral based on fit. To make our referrals, we consider factors like personality, therapeutic style, expertise, identity, and pragmatics like scheduling. The therapist then reaches out directly to schedule an appointment and your earliest possible time.
How do I know which Greene Clinic mental health service is the right fit?
Greene Clinic offers a range of services that can be engaged with as needed over time: therapy for adults, therapy for children and teens, relationship therapy, psychoanalysis, gender-affirming surgery letters, DBT group therapy, psychological assessment, and the Constellation Program.
Our services are primarily psychoanalytically informed, meaning we value depth-oriented, longer-term work; this approach involves more exploration, less “fixing.” Because of our value of depth, we ask that clients come at least once a week, and often they come more frequently, to enrich the work.
How do sliding scale therapeutic services work?
Information regarding sliding scale services at Greene Clinic is included on a chart containing financial background categories in relation to fees. In the intake process, we ask that a fee determination form is filled out; following this the fee is then collaboratively set with a Greene Clinic director on the intake call—this fee is based on income, class, and insurance benefits. Once established as a patient at the clinic, our scale slides up and down, so if you have significant changes in your financial circumstances, we adjust our fee accordingly.
How can I better understand the use of my insurance & determine my out-of-network benefits for mental health services at Greene Clinic?
The following questions can be addressed with your insurance to see how your services of interest at Greene Clinic can be supported:
Does your plan reimburse for out of network services? Do you need prior approval?
What is your mental health services deductible—how much you have to pay before the insurance benefits begin? How much of that deductible have you met?
When does the deductible reset? On January 1st? Or does it reset at another time? When the plan year is up?
At Greene Clinic we bill for a number of services. The relevant services and CPT codes for you are individual psychotherapy (90834 or 90837) and initial intake or diagnostic evaluation (90791). It is important to find out the allowable rates for these services. We bill $250 - $350 for 90834 or 90837 and $350 for 90791, per session.
What is psychological assessment at Greene Clinic? What conditions can be assessed?
Neuropsychological assessment is an in-depth, scientifically-grounded way of learning about your mind. The process involves gathering information about your psychological traits from lots of different sources, including interviews, observations, and standardized tests. We then use this information to create a holistic “map” of your mind and arrive at the most accurate diagnoses.
The assessment process takes several meetings, which will include interviewing, completing questionnaires, and taking standardized tests. At the end of this process, you will be provided with a detailed report describing our findings and recommendations.
The following conditions can be assessed: ADHD, Autism, learning disorders and differences, developmental delays, giftedness, personality patterns and disorders, mood disorders, anxiety and trauma disorders, psychosis and thought disorders.
What is centered in Greene Clinic’s assessment process? Can adults and children be assessed?
We provide assessments that are comprehensive and carefully tailored to your needs, designed around the questions that you want answered. Our reports go beyond diagnosis to explore your personal strengths and challenges. We believe all minds are unique and no one fits neatly into a box.
We are respectful of neurodiversity and oppose approaches to assessment that pathologize people’s differences. Our reports address the emotional impact of thinking and feeling in ways that differ from the people around you. We believe in working toward a world that supports all kinds of minds.
All of our reports include concrete recommendations about how to apply the findings to make your life better. We will provide detailed ideas about the types of school or work accommodations that will be most supportive and/or mental health treatment approaches that we think will work best for you.
