Group Therapy

We offer in-person and virtual groups that consist of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), substance use support, and Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT).

— Dialectical Behavior Therapy —

Virtual, on Zoom: Fridays from 1pm - 2:30pm—starting on January 16th, 2026, with Lisa Lefkowitz & Malik Salam.

In-person: Wednesdays at 6pm with Jordan Dunn. New cycle begins January 21, 2026. Now recruiting.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) integrates Eastern philosophical principles with Western behavioral psychology, in order to help individuals find balance between at times opposing ideas, such as acceptance and change, emotion and reason, being and doing. In practice, DBT groups focus on skill building and increasing insight. Specifically, each group begins with a Mindfulness practice and then delves variously into other topics such as tolerating distress, regulating emotions, and improving interpersonal communication. Group participants are invited to work on particular areas of their life they’d like to improve, develop skills to apply to those areas, and discuss and support each other through the difficulties inherent in change.

Our groups are open, which means we welcome referrals on an on-going basis and will continue to accept new members over the course of the duration of the group. We invite new participants to join at the beginning of a new module which typically starts every four-six weeks and to commit to the group for a full cycle through all modules, approximately six months.

The full fee for each 90-minute group is $150 with a sliding scale fee option, based on financial need. Please contact the clinic, or either of the group facilitators directly, for more information.

— Smoke Break: A DBT Group for Reducing Cannabis Use —

In-person: Monday, 6pm - 7pm, with Jacob Prescott and Red Samaniego

Starting January 26th, 2026

This group will provide weekly, ongoing group counseling to support people who would like to reduce their cannabis use. This may include goals of decreased use, breaks from using, and/or pursuing sobriety from cannabis.

This group will teach DBT skills regarding distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and how relational patterns might be connected to one’s cannabis use. Everyone in the group will also be invited to use these discussions to reassess their relationship to cannabis and adjust it as they see fit.

This group is open and ongoing. Facilitators will assist each participant in setting and striving toward their own individual goals regarding cannabis use. We encourage anyone who is interested in attending to reach out to the co-facillitators, Jacob Prescott and Red Samaniego, with any questions or to sign up.

The full fee for each 60-minute group is $150 with a sliding scale fee option, based on financial need.

— Radically Open DBT —

In-person: Friday, 6:15pm - 7:15pm, with Sarah Davidson & Sophie Whittemore.

Starting January 16th, 2026, for 16 weeks.

Do you struggle with perfectionism or rigidity?  Do you find yourself wanting more flexibility, openness or assertiveness in your relationships or the things you do?  Are you seeking some relief from rumination, anxiety, obsessions or compulsions?  If so, this group provides a space to learn skills and receive support from others in a facilitated, skills-based environment.

RO-DBT stands for "radically open dialectical behavior therapy."  This skills-based program guides members through a self-enquiry process that opens up opportunities to understand emotions, social signaling and that activates one’s own social safety to increase connection with others. The group will learn mindfulness skills for overcontrolled states of mind, interpersonal skills that focus on effectiveness, assertiveness and integrity.

A typical session begins with guided mindfulness exercise, involves some group discussion, a skills lesson and practice component. There is individual RO-DBT skills practice work that one carries out between sessions.

$150 per 60-minute session, sliding scale available based on need. If interested, please send an email with contact information for a brief intake call to rodbt2026@gmail.com
